To the Beginning

Why I’m Finally Blogging My Photography Journey

For a long time, my photography lived quietly—saved in folders, shared occasionally, treasured mostly by me. But lately, I’ve felt a pull to do something more with it. Not just to show finished images, but to tell the story behind them. The growth. The learning. The moments that shaped the way I see the world. So this blog is me saying yes to that pull.

My journey with photography started earlier than I realized at the time. I was a sophomore in high school when I joined the yearbook team. Back then, I didn’t have a fancy camera or a clear vision of what photography could become. I just knew I loved capturing moments—real ones. Football games under Friday night lights, candid hallway laughter, quiet details most people rushed past. Through the yearbook lens, I learned that photography wasn’t just about images; it was about storytelling.

That experience planted something in me. It taught me to observe, to wait, to notice emotion and connection. Even then, I was drawn to the in-between moments—the unposed, the imperfect, the honest. I didn’t know it then, but those instincts would stay with me.

Like many creative journeys, mine hasn’t been linear. Life got busy. Careers changed. Seasons shifted. Photography stayed, sometimes loud and constant, sometimes quiet and patient in the background. But it never fully left. It showed up in walks outdoors, in family moments, in light hitting just right and stopping me in my tracks. Photography became both a creative outlet and a grounding force—a way to slow down and be present.

Starting this blog feels vulnerable, but it also feels right. This isn’t about perfection or pretending I have it all figured out. It’s about sharing the process. The experiments that worked. The ones that didn’t. The lessons learned along the way. It’s about growth—artistically and personally.

I want this space to be honest and encouraging. A place where I can share my work, my inspiration, and the stories behind the images. A place for reflection, progress, and creative courage. If you’re someone who’s ever picked up a camera and doubted yourself, paused a passion, or wondered if it’s “too late” to start again—this is for you, too.

Photography has taught me that every season has value, every frame has meaning, and every journey unfolds one step at a time. This blog is my next step. And I’m excited to see where it leads.

Thank you for being here at the beginning. 🤍
